Through Crysler's consistent policy aiming at faithful sound reproduction, a series of speaker systems have been developed which may be considered the best in the world. CRYSLER Ce-4a Feb 2002 (BUILT 1973)
Very rare Japanese mini monitors. Built Oct 22nd 1973. These speakers are in perfect condition and sound fantastic. A single full range 5in drive unit mounted on baffle board. (So called acoustic suspension) Very natural and open sound. Limited bass but close to electrostatic speaker quality in mid and treble. These are brilliant little speakers. They are physically smaller than the Goodman's and quite a lot lighter
Crysler Baby Ce-4a is a little beauty. The dust cap is now black My great little Crysler Ce-4a. Dust cap should be silver. Colour does not effect the performance..... I am pleased to say. This speaker is a precise point source and is a very entertaining speaker with a very big heart. Definitely the best small speaker I have ever heard. It is also reasonably efficient and is an easy load for any amplifier. It produces great sounds with a single bit CD and my Sony VFET (similar vintage) Made from plywood and finished in oiled walnut veneer. Also feature a very unusual period grille cloth,( traditional Japanese design) Designed by cool cat Mr Kei Ikeda after many years of research. Frequency Response 75Hz- 16,000Hz 20W power handling Max sound pressure 98dB impedance 8ohms. I am stuck, I just cannot account for how good these sound. It must be a bit like a good valve amp, ordinary specs that sound really great!
Ce-4a traditional Japanese pattern, very attractive silver thread
Ce-4a alnico driver Stefan Althoff (Germany) has just sent me pictures of his "euro version" Ce-4a. These speakers were built on the 12th Oct 1972. The white/cream coloured finish is correct (factory stamping) The grille did not come with the traditional Japanese weave. Stefan is very enthusiastic about these tiny little speakers. In his email he wrote; I heard these speaker first about 20 years ago during a big "closing-sell-out" at my local hifi-dealer and I was really impressed ! - I haven't bought them - and this was maybe one of my worst audio-decisions ever... Stefan runs his Ce-4a with a period EL84 amplifier. A perfect match Stefan is always happy to talk about audio. You can contact him on.

Chrysler Ce-2 (Canadian model) added Sept 2005. This nice looking Living Audio model appeared this month on eBay Canada. It features two tweeters, two mids and a very nice looking alnico bass unit. I would expect this to be an efficient sweet sounding speaker. A bit like old alnico SEAS drivers. One of the few remaining true HiFi bargains
Ply construction, with efficient drivers
sweet alnico magnets (far too expensive, for use today!)
Further CE-2 pictures, sent to me recently by an American owner Bill S Added Jan 2008
Plywood and large amount of acoustic wadding (glass fibre)
