This is probably the most sophisticated compact stand mounter that I have built so far. The drivers used are quite old. The bass/mid is a SEAS CB 17 RCY. This driver features a magnesium chassis, coated paper cone with a rubber surround. It is capable of 40W and it weighs 1.1kg frequency response 40Hz- 4KHz The tweeter is handled by a Tandy ribbon tweeter frequency response 2.5KHz - 30KHz
The crossover is a single 2.2uF SOLEN cap mounted outside between the biwire 4mm connectors. This speaker is about average efficiency and will be mated with my Sony TA-N7 Cabinet features This cabinet is powder coated piano black. It is constructed from plywood and well braced Inside the corners have been encased in Plaster of Paris and fibrous panels have been firmly fixed at intervals. The lower bass cavity is completely lined with Yamaha felt The upper treble section is lined with foam This cabinet has been fitted with a bi wire plate and a rear firing port. The bass and tweeter are time aligned since the bass is mounted on a raised ring The cabinet is sonically dead! The bass unit sits in a layer of soft rubber weather strip the sound The bass is extremely detailed, weighty and tight. The upper and mid resolution is exceptional and they image very well
Same cabinet but completely reworked new crossover (modified B+O 1802) Kef B110 and new plastic baffle (cut by laser) WONDERFUL articulate mid and top DAMPED KEF BASS goes really deep Each speaker weighs about 15kg SPOOKY IMAGING EFFECTS!
